Name: Ayoo {Meaning ‘Born on the path’}
Gender: Lioness
Age: 3 years of age
Appearence: Like most lioness she is mainly light sandy tan in color. Small rounded ears are tinged with darker shades and her eyes are a soft creamy brown, almost golden. Small black ‘freckles’ adorn her forehead and top skull, the rest of her also splattered with very very faint marks like spots. A twisted scar lies along the ridge of her right flank, a present from her father you might say, though he wasn't the one that gave her the tearing blow. She is smaller then most females, quite lean and thin portraying her hard year of wandering. Being alone for so long and therefor hunting alone has caused her to use the land around her to her advantage, not to mention caused her her strength to lean to speed and harden her endurance. She can last quite a while when running, well to her species at least and frequently trains her body to keep this earned advantage.
Personality: Unlike many lions and lionesses Ayoo prefers seclusion then being bustled about in a busy pride. She thinks highly of her survival capabilities and can get very defensive of her actions if a flaw is pointed out. Quick to anger about certain things and slow to forgive you have to pick your words right with this she-cat. But if you can get past her rough exterior you will find a loving partner beneath, to the right male of course but unless you pinch a nerve or push a button with her she is quiet pleasant. She is usually calm and cool headed, especially while hunting. Stubborn might be an understatement for Ayoo for when she chooses her path she sticks to it like superglue, having never changed her choice for over a year. And wether its been for the better or the worst she has stuck with it and saw it to the end. Never doubting her reasons.
History: Partial to her name Ayoo really was ‘born on the path‘, well the path to a rough cub hood that is. Born while traveling her mother had two other cubs, Ayoo’s two younger brothers. The middle cub was named Abubakar, witch means ‘Noble’ and her youngest brother Dede witch means ‘Grasshopper‘. Since Ayoo was the first born she was granted the name of her birthplace, witch she thought was a great honour.
As soon as they could see, walk, and play like most cubs do they where trained rigorously. For the land that her pride claimed only a year before was spare with prey and you either helped with the hunt, or got little to nothing to eat, even when there was a rare feast. Ayoo felt overwhelmed by the strain but urged her brothers on, doing her best to keep their spirits high when in lessons. Her youngest brother Dede had it the hardest out of all of them. Being the third born and unluckily the smallest and weakest he hardly had the energy to play at the end of the day, even if the lessons where merely the method of stalking. That’s when Ayoo would simply lie beside him and let his curl up to her belly, like they used to when they were smaller, having the constant comfort of mother when newborns.
Of course this wouldn’t last, and her close bond with her bothers became strained as their second years arrived, they would have to leave soon, while Ayoo was forced to stay within the pride. For the sake of hunting for her family and her stone hearted father. It was only a few sunrises after the two had left when Dede had appeared, blood crusted upon his hide after an attack from hyenas. The two inexperienced lions had been ambushed by the creatures, and being young and greatly unnumbered Abubakar had fallen to them, while holding them off for his younger brother to escape.
Dede begged for the protection of the pride witch Ayoo promised he would have, he had been born and raised here, they wouldn’t dare turn him away. But she was wrong. Dead wrong. Her father strutted over, all the lioness acknowledging him as he passed, like a king. But he did something then Ayoo would have never thought a king would do. He threatened to chase her younger brother off if he didn’t leave his territory immediately, even kill him if he caught him. Witch considering his condition wouldn’t be to hard.
Still being young and not understanding the ways of her pride Ayoo became infuriated, standing up to her father and spiting at him just what she thought of the brute. And let me tell you none of them where good things. Just for the fact of a lioness standing up to him her father banned them both, but not before giving his daughter a little souvenir of his ‘power’. He made her own mother attack her, and give her the scar that ran down her hind flank to this day. Ayoo would have liked nothing better then to gauge her sire’s eyes out, but wounded and surrounded she had nothing to do but leave, supporting her bother along side her.
For the next moon she and her crippled kin wandered the lands. Searching for food, meals sparse and far between and water almost non existent. It was the night of the full moon when her brother, silently wailing grew still, and then cold as she curled up beside him. Unwilling to move in her grief. Nearly a year after she still wanders the world, though this time without a soul by her side. She purposely avoids the others like her, unwilling to be sucked into the same pride shit as before. Though she doesn’t actually know much other then what happened in her home pride, and it wasn’t made clear to her what went in on other’s. But she forced herself to hate the companionship of another, against all her natural instincts, but all she was able to do was make the loneliness bearable. And this is how she lives, to this day still. A loner in the plains.
